This whole week of February 12 to February 18, 2017 is a celebration of Random Acts of Kindness and what better way to show how I can turn the world kind in my very own way, by featuring my favorite non-profit, Project Birthday. I was researching my options on volunteer work with The Regional Center for Volunteerism HandsOn Superior California and stumbled upon Project Birthday of Sacramento. I eagerly signed on to be a Volunteer Party Leader last year in August and since then have been taking pictures at the birthday parties and turning them into collages. Below are some picture examples of the monthly events at Sacramento's Next Move facility.
Project Birthday is a 100% volunteer organization providing birthday parties to children in need while temporarily living in shelters and transitional housing throughout the Sacramento area. Project Birthday sponsors and volunteers help to brighten a child's day by celebrating their birthdays with a nicely decorated party consisting of cupcakes, drinks, games as well as birthday gifts for the young celebrants.
Sponsors are a huge part of making these monthly birthday events a success. Whether if you're a small or big business, a church organization, or women's group, sponsors for Project Birthday's parties come from all walks of life and have a similar goal in mind, and that is to make a difference in a child's life. If you are local to Sacramento, CA , learn how to sign up as a Volunteer Party Leader here: HandsOn Superior California. If you would like to donate or learn how you can help, please visit Project Birthday's website for more details.
Volunteerism for me has been tremendously positive and quite a rewarding experience. I wouldn't have it any other way. Just to see their faces light up with their bright smiles, I would continue to volunteer in a heart beat. Join me in this form of random acts of kindness and support Project Birthday.
