A Fashionable Sunday

Sacramento Fashion Week showcased seven local boutiques this afternoon at the Sacramento Masonic Temple. The hubby and I made it a fashionable date night kind of Sunday evening. Pop up boutiques set their display of goods which started the fashion event at 4pm late this afternoon. Seating and announcements started after 6:30pm, with Authentic Queens Boutique starting the showcase line up at the runway.  

 

 

 

 

This beautiful black floral print dress from Button Up Boutique was definitely my favorite of the whole entire show.

 

 

Retrospect Vintage Fashion did a great job showing their maximized artistic ways through bold and colorful vintage fashion. Bright hosiery with dresses,  ornate vintage belts wrapped around the fashion models' necks as a statement necklace, modern shoes paired with colorful sequined tops and dresses. It was a fun ending to a quite organized fashion show.

Boutique Envy: Tumbleweed and Company

   If you're new to the blog series, I started Boutique Envy to write about my quest for knowing through observing the advantages and disadvantages of possibly opening up a boutique. For as long as I can remember, it has been a dream of mine to run my very own stand alone shop. You can read the blog series here. 

   For a second year in a row, I've attended the Mes Amis Vintage Antique Show and look forward to coming every year going forward. The two day venue is at the Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville, California. It's vintage home decor and more with a boutique shopping experience as each vendor meticulously displays and curates their merchandise for the eager vintage lover. I picked up just a couple things for our home and didn't quite have the time to take pictures with my VSCO app. 

   After leaving, I thought since I was near the area of Downtown Roseville, why not stop by Tumbleweed and Company! It's like walking into Joanna & Chip Gaines HGTV show of Fixer Upper, just full of vintage home goods, that your mind starts to reel with decor ideas and just wish you did own a farmhouse kind of feel! Well, for me at least :)

 

 

 

For the vintage decor lover, this place is heaven.

 

 

  

 

 

   There are many vintage decor shops in the local area, but Tumbleweed and Company is now my new favorite. What makes this shop different? The uniqueness of vintage and antique items for the home, which you can keep and preserve it's history of use or refurbish that item by transforming it into something new or maybe even modernize it, just depends how creative you can get!

Ninna Lu: A Traveling Boutique & First Holiday Event - Sacramento, CA

May Moments

 

 

   There were many special May moments worth documenting on the blog today as we are now fast approaching June.  As I was scrolling through my Instagram feed for the month of May, I wanted to pick the top five to share on the blog. Below are some pictures which I thought are worth sharing.

I was able to finally list and post all the new fresh vintage picks for the Ninna Lu vintage shop early on this month. Check out the newly added vintage fashion, accessories, jewelry and home decor.

 

|| 8th Wedding Anniversary Dinner ||

 

The hubby and I celebrated our eighth year wedding anniversary this month. We celebrated at a local Japaneses Bistro restaurant with fresh oysters, lobster and soba noodles salad, and ending the evening with a chocolate cake dessert.

 

|| Under The Trees ||

For Mother's Day, we took a road trip and found ourselves under these trees in Santana Row before having dinner at my mother-in-law's. We were just listening and admiring the local musician play his music while people-watching.

 

|| Welcome Back Home Breakfast ||

 

I wasn't able to add this picture to my Instagram feed, but this was a welcome back home breakfast with the hubby around mid-May as he came home from the big, long racing weekend.

 

|| Zen Things To Remember ||

 

Lately I've been feeling a little stressed and anxious from the normal everyday life routine. So I've been trying to calm myself down by trying to remember these simple zen tips. I also keep a collection of related pins on my Pinterest board called a for a zen-filled lifestyle.  I've also been trying to finish to read the book "Thrive" by Arianna Huffington so stay tuned for that upcoming blog post.

Vintage in The City

   The hubby and I had an early morning start this Saturday as we headed over to the Vintage Fashion Expo for the first time at San Francisco, California. It's being held at a San Francisco County Building near the San Francisco Botanical Garden at Golden Gate Park all weekend so head down there Bay Area folks, tickets at the door are $15 per person. More details about this event can be found at Vintage Expo. I had so much fun looking around and checking out the vintage goods of some of the exhibitors at the show. Most of these vendors strictly sell only at shows similar to this expo or antique shows along the state of California. I saw so many varieties of one of kind high-end designer vintage shoes, jewelry, clothing, scarves, sunglasses, lucite handbags, lots of bakelite jewelry, and only a few vintage men's fashion booths. Below are the few exhibitors at the expo that I though were worth checking out.

:: Gaby's Attic ::

According to her daughter, Gaby has been collecting vintage goods for the last forty years.

:: The Bakelite Lady ::

Pam has a gazillion bakelite hair accessories from the 50's and 60's all from France. Her bakelite bracelets also range from $20 to $230. I also bought some vintage dachshund pins in bold bright colors. I so wish I could've bought more.

 

 

 

:: Fivo Sixo ::

This exhibitor had a great selection of vintage high end designer shoes.

 

:: Omyd's Antiques ::

Mostly vintage jewelry and so many different brooches. But I had to get this vintage ornate bracelet pictured below.

 

 

 

:: Barbara Grigg ::

Such pretty bakelite jewels and so much more.

 

:: Luxe ::

This was my favorite exhibitor with such high quality vintage cashmere sweaters, shoes, jewelry, and handbags. The prices are a little out of my range but you are sure to find something unique at this booth such as this exotic bird handbag and a beautiful embellished Moschino sweater.

 

 

:: Faultline Collectibles ::

Such a great selection of vintage dresses, clutches, and handbags.

 

:: Blue Moon Antiques ::

I scored on this vintage lucite necklace. So fun! But the vintage Hermes Berkin is a dream.

 

 

There are a total of five shows per year and I will definitely be back at the San Francisco Vintage Expo again. For Los Angeles folks, the next show is on May 2015.
