A Birthday Fashion Reveal

   

   Fashion exhibits are not really a hobby of mine per se, but I do occasionally visit fashion designer exhibits when they are showcased especially at our local museums. Two of which I posted about and you can look back on it here:

   My sassy sister decided to take me for my birthday to see the Lee Alexander McQueen exhibit at Sacramento's Crocker Art Museum and it was amazing to be able to see a few of his masterpieces in real life. This exhibit is definitely a must see and they did allow folks to take pictures of the exhibit. I decided to feature a few favorites on this blog.

 

 

 

 

 

I highly recommend seeing the documentary McQueen before or after visiting the exhibit.

 

 

 

 

The exhibit also reflected Ann Ray's photography of Alexander McQueen's work as well as the models.

 

 

 

This exhibit will be at the Crocker Museum until April of 2023.

Ninna Lu Milestone: Ten Years In The Making

   I guess the pandemic has changed my long-time dream of one day owning a brick and mortar shop a bit. Since 2011, the year Ninna Lu began. It started as a personal mission to provide a bold pocket-friendly solution for fashionistas which was to provide designer goods at a unbelievable affordable price. Walking the streets of the Los Angeles Fashion District back then was so fashionably inspiring for me. I loved fashion. Then started offering vintage wares, then handmade fabric goods, the blog also came to fruition. The traveling boutique then started in the year of 2013. Online selling platforms were my friends. Now these days there are so many to choose from, it's insane, everyone is selling clothing. After a unfortunate tragic event that year in 2017 happened, with Trinity, Ninna Lu evolved to an art make and take experience, even making these Trinity dreamcatchers and named it n i n n a l u i n s p i r e d. 

  I can't believe I've reached this milestone of ten years with Ninna Lu. March 2021 to be exact will be Ninna Lu's tenth year in the making. Life makes you tumble at times, other higher priorities needed to be handled, family obligations, a full-time job, but my side hustle was always there. Ninna Lu always served as a creative outlet for me. One day thinking that I would be a stay at home mother, needing a way to make an income while at home. I got it ready within those early years just in case. After Trinity's passing in 2017, I was surprised to find a reason to continue. Now looking forward to the LA Textile 2021 Virtual Show next week, I so look forward to learning about the upcoming trend for the season, remember, fashion tends to think ahead, so this is for 2022. My love for working with textiles continues. I can't wait to create an ombre wreath with a colorful array of tulle and healing stones.

  Working from home after my full-time teleworking job allows me to be able to enjoy working my ten year side hustle. It allows me to be home with the pups too, which my husband loves. We'd hate to leave them at home for long hours!

My Dash of Positivity

   

   When I sit down and stop for a good half hour to think about what I'd like to write about next on my blog, it always needs to have some type of lesson learned, a self-transformation, an a-ha moment, or just anything and everything that can inspire others. But during these hard and difficult times, it almost seems unusually hard to stay positive. Between the fact that we are in a very cautious time during this pandemic and still sadly surrounded with racism in the year of 2020. But above it all, I stay resilient but mindfully aware that these are indeed sensitive times. 

   With that, turning it 360 degrees, I wanted to provide a dash of positivity. As a child, now an adult, I have always been told that I always had a postitive outlook no matter what. I guess I have my Mom to thank for that. How do you stay resilient during these uncertain times? What are some tips or strategies do you use to keep things positive in your life?

While it is quite difficult at times, being mindful on my screen usage time, I needed to start to slightly lower my social media interactions and watched a little less TV (mostly the news). This strategy has always helped me lower my stress and keep a positive outlook at the same time. My mornings will usually consist of listening to at least one of my top five podcasts or just simply putting on some chakra balancing music to add a boost of positivity in my day.

Although keeping a "positive vibes" only mindset may be a challenge at times, how about making it your key word/s for the day and keep that same actual mindset all day. Why not make it fun? What you wear and how you wear it can really have a major impact on how you start your day. Working from home, I absolutely cannot be in sweats all day, otherwise my productivity level can be affected. I make sure I am dressed, along with some fun fashion accessories, so that I feel that I am in absolute professional work mode, even when in an at home office environment. Do you generally get overdressed even when working from home? Or do you stay in gym clothes all day and still stay productive? That amazes me if you do!

I just barely started my graphic tee collection. I'd love to get more as it's a great subtle way to express my thoughts, my opinions, my views, and lastly my style.

An Inspiring Sunday

   

   We took a planned road trip to San Francisco this early Sunday morning for an exhibit being showcased at the Asian Art Museum called Kimono Refashioned.

 

 

 

 

No pictures were allowed to be taken inside the exhibition on the first floor of the museum but I was able to take just a couple. This exhibit is showcasing until the month of May so if you love fashion it's worth the trek to check it out!

 

 

My favorite was definitely the Alexander McQueen designed dress which is pictured above.

Ninna Lu | A Photo Retrospective: August 2015

 

  Do you ever sometimes wonder where time has gone by? As we enter into the month of September, I am looking back into my month of August's Instagram feed. As my main goal is capturing life's moments on the blog, I thought why not an end of the month photo retrospective that will quickly tell me a story. So here it is...

 

 :: I was invited to have a special lunch at work with the company's Executive Chef and I was able to experience this four course meal in the kitchen. It was very delicious! ::

 

 :: 1 :: From what I've read, coloring is another form of meditation. I recently bought this book called the "Secret Garden" and it has helped me calm down after coming home from a hectic day.

:: 2 :: Quite a momentous event, my first niece, Ava, came into our family's lives last month.

:: 3 :: It's officially my 7th week of just eating veggies (plus seafood for protein). Not eating red meat for me has been pretty significant as I've been a meat eater all my life.

:: 4 :: I've discovered a new book ,called "Quiet" by Susan Cain, to read that I handpicked myself as it's hard for me to pick a book of my own unless its been gifted. I find myself reading non-fiction books lately.

 

 

 It was definitely a hot month, but I couldn't help but start thinking of fall fashion. As always, fashion is in the back of my mind, hidden sometimes, but always shows up no matter what.
