Mother's Day is a very special day for me this year aside from being Trinity Marie's Mom, my own Mother has been nothing but plain and simply supportive the last nine months of my life since my baby girl passed. I decided to go to Paper Source and make her a card as she's been the best Mom anyone can ever have, but I'm biased as she's my Mom. (Smile...)
Materials:
Ivory card stock paper, gold striped and floral paper from Paper Source, scissors,
craft stick glue, baking twine, and a gift tag made from vintage paper.
I used a corresponding envelope to measure my folded card and just used the craft stick glue to glue on the papers I wanted as designed in the above picture making sure that I cut the floral paper sides short enough so that the ivory card stock paper will also show. You're welcome to design your card however you'd like with the baking twine, but I thought of holding it with my vintage paper gift tag that I have always handy in my craft room and labeled it "To the best Mom in the world". I planned on writing her a Mother's Day poem which I hand wrote inside the card. The written poem is below.
So Blessed By You, Mom
A mother who always cares
A mother who is always there.
A mother who always prays
A mother who always stays.
When things get rough,
When life gets tough,
When all is just too much to bear,
God's word she shares,
God's light she shines,
So blessed God made this mother mine.

I wanted to also chalk paint this keepsake box I found at the local antique store and it turned out to be pretty good with the olive green chalk paint bringing out the colors of center floral accent of the keepsake box. Remember with Annie Sloan chalk paint, you don't need to prime your project, just paint it. As pictured below.
Have you thought of what you're getting your Mom for Mother's Day? It's on May 13th, 2018, about nine days away. If you haven't, I hope this blog post gives you some kind of inspiration and it was also not too expensive, it's really the thought that counts the most anyway. May your Mother's Day be filled with laughter and making more memories! Thank you so much for reading. ~ marissa
