A Museum Masterpiece

 

   The Palace Legion of Honor at San Francisco, California has a current exhibition called High Style being shown at the museum until July 19, 2015.

 

 

   I wanted to be able to record my own pictures of the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection before the fashion pieces leave the west coast. For myself, this was a must see exhibition as I am unsure of when in my lifetime that I'll be able to ever have the opportunity to travel to New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, which are the caretakers of this treasured collection. The costume collection consists  of 25,000 items. These pictured items were just a minuscule fraction of that collection. I'd love to share that fraction with you.

My ultimate favorite of the whole exhibit is from the fashion designer Charles James.

These masterpieces are so worth seeing in person and don't feel intimidated with the name of the exhibit at all. { I attended the exhibit in my weekend ensemble of jeans and flips flops.}

DIY | Upcycle Picture Frames

 

 

Materials used from home:

1) scotch tape

2) scissors

3) two previously used picture frames

4) Annie Sloane's chalk paint and paint brush

 

 

All you will need is one coat of Annie Sloane chalk paint to paint your picture frame/s.

 

 

Materials used from your local Paper Source store:

5) one black and white striped paper

6) one cream with gold stripes paper

7) Market Street Ready to frame art prints

with pressed foil accents (6) 8x10

 

 

Out of the pack of six, I chose two of the prints pictured above to frame for my newly added meditation corner.

"You sparkle you shine"

 

The other prints I will definitely use as personal gifts.

 

After my frames dried, I cut each piece of my printed background papers into the shape of my repurposed picture frames. My frames were 11 x 14.

I just used scotch tape to center my pressed foil accent art print onto the frame.
