During the early part of this year, I wanted to expand my horizons and offer a selection of vintage clothing in my online shop. I offered my very first vintage find Ninna Lu on eBay and from there it's expanded to also starting a new online vintage shop Ninna Lu on Etsy. Brand new to the vintage arena, I always just veered toward what caught my eye no matter what the brand name. For instance this L.A. Regale 80's black beaded vintage belt that I fell in love with months ago, if it's adorable and versatile, I wanted to share it.
As I'm going along these secret shopping adventures or excursions, I'm luckily stumbling upon vintage designer finds such as Oscar De La Renta, Escada and Valentino. Not knowing from the beginning what to expect, these pieces have eventually been acquired by a special someone who will love it just as much as the previous owner. Adding to it's wear history, it will continue to be a treasured original piece for many more years to come.
Now it's finally my turn! Yippee! Finding designer pieces for my own personal collection was just as fun as finding pieces for another. It started out looking for a vintage sweater to wear over my practical tops of hues of gray, taupe, black and white for the fall season. When I came across this vintage DVF plaid cardigan sweater (picture soon to come) on Etsy, from there it became an online shopping frenzy over Diane Von Furstenberg.
Years ago when I frequented Nordies more often in my early 20s, which was when my first ever encounter was with her amazing fashion line, I realized then that her signature wrap dresses were definitely out of my reach. I also remembered the time a few years back when I accompanied my sister to go shopping to find her college graduation dress, it was a special occassion and it called for a DVF piece. It was super pretty and pricey back then, it still is now, but that shouldn't stop you from admiring her line! I do. Visit www.dvf.com. You can preview new, current and vintage styles on this site to get a fairly good idea on current prices. Dresses, knits, clutches and scarves from $200 -$500. It certainly opens my eyes , that no matter how old it is, once previously admired won't stop you from wanting something that is vintage. Something once cherished is always something special.
As pictured below, here are my recent vintage Diane Von Furstenberg finds that were amazingly affordable!
I've gone to 80's heaven...a vintage DVF Clutch, priced at $24.00 on Etsy.com.
As well as a vintage DVF 80's geometric scarf which was listed with the clutch as buy one get one free, also on Etsy.com.
Lastly, I had to have a great read, her 1976 Book of Beauty, also on Etsy for only $6.00.
Also check out Diane's Diary on the company website , www.dvf.com, she tells stories about her worldly travels, life experiences, and shares her fondness for art museums, textiles and of course design.
